Terms of service

Last updated 30 June 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By using Compare Caravan Repairs ("the service", "we", "us"), operated by Compare Caravan Repairs Ltd, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

2. What we do

We are a UK marketplace that connects caravan owners with independent repair businesses. We do not carry out repairs ourselves. Owners describe a job; local engineers send quotes; the owner picks one. The contract for the repair is between the owner and the engineer.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. If you register on behalf of a business, you confirm that you have authority to bind that business.

4. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that takes place under your account. Tell us promptly if you think your account has been compromised.

We may suspend or close accounts where we reasonably believe the terms have been broken or where activity poses a risk to other users or the service.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Misrepresent your identity, qualifications, or business
  • Submit false jobs, false quotes, or false reviews
  • Use the service to harass, defame, or intimidate anyone
  • Attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise abuse the service
  • Arrange work off-platform to avoid the lead fee, or ask another user to do so
  • Bypass the lead-fee system, the per-job quote limit, or rate limits
  • Upload malicious files or content

6. Listings and quotes

Engineers are responsible for the accuracy of their listing, quotes, certifications, and any work they carry out. Any certificates or qualifications shown on a profile are supplied by the engineer — we don't verify them or independently check an engineer's competence, and you should satisfy yourself that an engineer is suitably qualified and insured before agreeing to work. We don't supervise individual jobs.

Owners are responsible for accurately describing the work needed, providing safe access to the caravan, and paying the engineer per the agreed quote.

7. Reviews

Only owners who have actually had a job completed through the service may leave a review of that engineer. Reviews must be honest, not defamatory, and not contain personal information about anyone other than yourself. We may remove reviews that don't comply.

Engineers may respond publicly to a review of their work. We don't allow fake, incentivised or sponsored reviews, and we may ask for evidence to support a factual claim made in a review.

Describe your genuine experience and your honest opinion. Don't accuse anyone of a crime or dishonesty (for example calling someone a “scammer” or “cowboy”) unless it is true and you can evidence it — such statements can be unlawful, and you are responsible for the content you post.

8. Payment between owner and engineer

Payment for the repair is made directly to the engineer per the quote. We do not collect payment from owners and we don't take a commission on the work.

9. Lead fees for businesses

Building a profile and being matched to local jobs is free for repair businesses. A business pays a flat fee of £5 only when it chooses to submit a quote on a job (a “lead”). There is no subscription, contract or commission on the work itself. Each job accepts a maximum of five paid quotes; once five engineers have quoted, it closes to further quotes.

The lead fee pays for the opportunity to quote, not for winning the job. The fee is non-refundable once you have submitted a quote, and is also non-refundable where the owner chooses another engineer before you have submitted a quote — the risk that the job is taken before you quote is part of the lead. The fee is returned to you only as account credit applied to a future lead (never as a cash or bank refund), and only where the job is cancelled by the owner or expires before you have submitted a quote.

Leads are sold to you as a business, for purposes relating to your trade — this applies whether you trade as a limited company or as a sole trader. The 14-day cancellation (“cooling-off”) right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 therefore does not apply. In any event, by purchasing a lead you ask us to give you access to it immediately and acknowledge that, to the extent any cancellation or cooling-off right would otherwise apply, it is lost once that access has been provided. Refunds and credits are governed solely by these terms.

If a payment an engineer owes us fails, is reversed or is charged back, we may charge a £20 administration fee — covering the bank, chargeback and re-processing costs and our administrative time — and may suspend the account until all sums are paid.

10. Liability

We provide our own service — matching you with engineers and operating the platform — with reasonable care and skill. We don't guarantee that quotes will arrive within any particular time, that any specific engineer will accept a job, or that the service will be uninterrupted.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. None of these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

We are not a party to the contract between an owner and an engineer. We are not responsible for the work, conduct, or any act or omission of any engineer, or for any loss arising from your dealings or contract with an engineer — your rights in respect of the repair itself are against the engineer.

Subject to the above: if you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breaking these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill in providing our service, and if any limitation here is found to be ineffective our total liability to you will not exceed £100. If you use the service as a business, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, or any indirect or consequential loss.

11. Intellectual property

We own the service, including its design, code, and content (other than user-submitted content). You retain ownership of content you submit (such as job descriptions, photos and reviews) and grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and use that content for the purpose of operating, improving and promoting the service. This licence continues for content that remains relevant — such as a published review — after your account closes.

12. Termination

You can close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or close your account where these terms are broken or where required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive (such as liability and intellectual property) will do so.

13. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here and change the date at the top. Where a change is material, we'll let registered users know by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-protection law of the part of the United Kingdom (England and Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland) in which you are habitually resident. You may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the UK in which you are habitually resident, or in the courts of England and Wales; we will bring proceedings against a consumer only in the courts of the part of the UK in which they are habitually resident. If you use the service as a business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
